Ayla was born at home in Dry Creek, TN and, via Nashville and Manhattan, now lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband. Following a brief obsession with Michael Jordan, Ayla left basketball behind and earned a degree in design before pursuing her passion to capture the people and places around her. She loves a good drink, hates to sing, loves her family, and loves her work. When she isn't shooting she is looking for new places to explore and, as a card carrying citizen pruner, some trees to tend to. Ayla's work has appeared in Architectural Record, International Magazine of Design, IW Magazine, New York Times, NPR, PBS, Atlanta Magazine, Rodale Publishing, Abrams Publishing, Bloomsbury Publishing... She also regularly photographs for architectural and design firms.
